What is Anubandh?

Derived from the Marathi word for "connection," Anubandh embodies the bond between students, teachers, and the learning process. This innovative program emphasizes positive reinforcement and collaboration to create a dynamic educational environment. Structured into five strategic phases, Anubandh builds motivation, teamwork, and a culture of growth.


Implementation at NES, Thane West

BhashaLab’s partnership with NES has delivered a impactful year-long program (four credits) focused on foundational English skills.


Key Objectives:

  • Enhance English reading proficiency.

  • Strengthen basic grammar understanding.


Methodology:

  • Level-Based Grouping: Students were grouped by reading levels (ASER framework), prioritizing support for those in the lowest tiers.

  • Green Card Incentives: Small green cards awarded post-assessment became powerful motivators, fostering enthusiasm and consistent attendance (~25 tests/class).

  • Data-Driven Tracking: Meticulous records of student progress and green card earnings ensured transparency. Top performers and classes will receive certificates upon completion.


Outcomes:

  • Reading Level Improvements:

    • 70% of students advanced by two ASER levels.

    • 25% improved by one level.

    • 5% saw minimal progress, influenced by attendance or self-study habits.

  • Attendance & Engagement: Near-full participation in sessions highlighted the program’s appeal.


Lessons Learned:

  • Curriculum Sequencing: Adjusting the order of topics for better comprehension is critical. These refinements are now applied in newer iterations.


Expansion to TMC School No. 55, Kolshet

In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Thane Connoisseurs, Anubandh has been adapted into a streamlined, three-month reading program (two credits), aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.


Enhancements from NES Insights:

  • Optimized topic sequencing for clearer understanding.

  • Continued use of Green Cards to sustain motivation, resulting in improved attendance and classroom focus.


Early Success:

  • Students exhibit heightened engagement and anticipation for challenges, mirroring NES’s positive trends.
